Running Small LLM Models on Raspberry PI 5

“Small” LLM Models PHI-2 is a LLM (Large Language Model) created by Microsoft with 2.7 trillion parameters. The PHI-2 model is part of Microsoft’s efforts to develop language models that can be used in a variety of applications, from text generation to natural language understanding. This model has been trained on an enormous amount of text to be able to understand and generate human-like content coherently. Although it may seem like a large model, we are actually talking about a small model within the category of LLMs.

Leaving Everything to Raise Robotic Crickets: My New Adventure

Hello everyone, Today I want to share with you a decision that I’ve been pondering for a long time: I’m going to leave everything behind and become a robotic cricket farmer. Yes, you read that correctly, robotic crickets. These little mechanical beings are not just a technological curiosity, but they are designed to have a mind of their own. The idea is that each one of us can have our own personal Jiminy Cricket, a little robotic conscience to help us make decisions and remind us of our responsibilities.

A toast for Christmas... and for Bruce Willis

Merry Christmas 2023 to everyone! It’s that time of the year when we gather with our loved ones, enjoy delicious feasts, and immerse ourselves in the Christmas spirit. Besides all this, what would Christmas be without our favorite movies? We all have those films that remind us of Christmas, whether it’s Love Actually, Scrooged, or The Grinch. But there is one movie that has become an unexpected Christmas classic: Die Hard.

Review of Books Read in 2023

2023 is coming to an end, and it’s time to review the books that have accompanied me throughout the year. Honestly, I expected to have read more, but the truth is that I set a pretty high goal at the beginning of the year: to read two books a month… naive. Dodging Mediocrity I started by reading “Dodging Mediocrity” by Xavier Marcert. This book is a plea against mediocrity. It invites us to reflect on how we do things in our personal and professional lives and how we must achieve excellence.

My experience trying out Meta Quest 3 for work

I have recently been testing the Meta Quest 3 with a particular focus: using them for work. The idea of having multiple desktops in virtual reality is intriguing, and I decided to put it to the test. Here I share my impressions with you. Meta Quest Browser The Meta Quest Browser is the built-in web browser in the Meta Quest 3. It allows you to create as many windows as you want, which is useful considering that almost all the applications we use today are served through the web.

Sargantana: Reflections on the third version of Spain's first open source RISC-V processor

Recently, I received news about the latest version of Sargantana, the first open source RISC-V processor created in Spain by BSC (Barcelona Super Computer). This is the third version of Sargantana, and for the first time, a speed of 1 GHz has been achieved. I was very impressed by this achievement, and I would like to share some thoughts on what this represents. With Sargantana, Spain has joined the select group of nations capable of designing and manufacturing their own processors.

December Reflections: My Old Technology Blog on Wordpress

December, the month where we reflect on what we have done during the year, review our achieved goals (or not), and prepare a new list of resolutions for the coming year. Recently, after reading “Atomic Habits”, I decided that I wanted to recover the habit of writing daily. Sometimes just a micropost that would almost fit in a tweet, but always something. Remembering my beginnings on Wordpress This, however, is not the first blog/site on which I write.

TKey: The First 100% Open Source Security Key

Introduction I will always remember a maxim in cryptography: the key is the key, not the algorithm. There’s nothing more secure than releasing the algorithm so that everyone can analyze it and work on its improvements. Under this premise, TKey is introduced as the first 100% open source security key. A revolutionary product created by Tillitis that embodies total freedom in security: hardware, firmware, and software that are completely open and modifiable.
